Timothy R. Snowball

Senior Counsel, Liberty Justice Center

Tim Snowball serves as Senior Counsel at Liberty Justice Center, where he fights to keep government power in check while protecting the individual constitutional rights of Americans.

He has worked throughout the conservative and libertarian legal world. This includes stints at the Institute for Justice, Pacific Legal Foundation, and Freedom Foundation.

His favorite past cases include:

Suing the California Department of Fish and Wildlife over an unconstitutional condition requiring licensed falconers to waive their First and Fourth Amendment rights. Ultimately, the courts sided with the falconers.

He is also proud of protecting the rights of students and parents against the Los Angeles Unified School District’s irrational extended school closures during the Covid-19 era. This case resulted in schools reopening, and kids returning to class.

Finally, he fought all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of teacher Glenn Laird to enforce the Janus case (litigated by LJC) and protect the right of public employees to refuse to subsidize extreme union political speech. This area of law continues to be extremely important.

Through his work with the Equal Protection Project, Tim also gained deep experience with the federal civil rights statutes prohibiting race and sex-based discrimination. This includes submitting complaints with federal agencies concerning over one hundred racist programs operating at institutions of higher education in California.

In addition to his legal work, Tim is also passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of attorneys, and communicating the importance of the Constitution and civil liberties to the public. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at USD Law School, where he teaches students the ins and outs of appellate litigation. His writing is regularly featured in national publications, and he enjoys participating in media interviews, delivering speeches, and other presentations.

When Tim isn’t dragging bureaucrats into court, he is spending time with his wife and two daughters, with his nose stuck in a book, or at the gym.

Tim received his AA in Political Science from Grossmont College, BA in American Politics and Government from UC Berkeley, and JD from The George Washington University Law School. He is licensed to practice in California, the U.S. Supreme Court, and various federal circuits and district courts across the country.
