Sara Albrecht

Chairman

Sara Albrecht’s background in investment management led to the formation of Swan Capital in 2007. Her career began as an analyst at Harris Associates L.P., and from there she became a founding partner of the equity team at PPM America. In addition to practicing investment management, she also taught International Finance at St. Xavier University Graham School of Management as well as CFA prep courses after receiving her CFA in 1995. In 2000, she purchased the retail chain Ultimo and operated it until 2011.

An entrepreneur and philanthropist, Sara serves on the boards of Illinois Policy Institute, Government Accountability Alliance, Empower Illinois, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and Economic Club of Chicago. In addition, she is the Finance Chair of Harris Theater for Music and Dance and previously served as Chair of Hubbard Street Dance.

Albrecht graduated with a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from DePaul University and received an M.M. from Northwestern Kellogg School of Management.

Jacob Huebert

President

Prior to his current role as President, Jacob Huebert served as the Liberty Justice Center’s Director of Litigation. In that role, he successfully litigated cases to protect economic liberty and vital constitutional rights such as free speech—including the landmark 2018 case Janus v. AFSCME, in which the U.S. Supreme Court upheld government workers’ First Amendment right to choose for themselves whether to pay money to a union. Huebert and his work have appeared in numerous national media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and Fox News Channel.

Huebert was also previously a Senior Attorney at the Goldwater Institute, where he litigated cases on free speech, property rights, and the Second Amendment.

Huebert holds a B.A. in economics from Grove City College and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. After law school, he served as a clerk to Judge Deborah Cook of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Huebert has served as an adjunct law professor at several law schools, teaching courses in advanced appellate advocacy, the law of payments, legal writing, and jurisprudence. Before working in public interest law, he was a litigator in private practice.

Corey A. DeAngelis, Ph.D.

Corey A. DeAngelis is a senior fellow at the American Culture Project. He has been labeled the “school choice evangelist” and called “the most effective school choice advocate since Milton Friedman.” He is a regular on Fox News and frequently appears in The Wall Street Journal. DeAngelis is also the executive director at Educational Freedom Institute, a senior fellow at Reason Foundation, an adjunct scholar at Cato Institute, and a board member at Liberty Justice Center. He holds a Ph.D. in education policy from the University of Arkansas. He is the national bestselling author of The Parent Revolution: Rescuing Your Kids from the Radicals Ruining Our Schools (Center Street, 2024).

Professor Richard Epstein

Richard A. Epstein, the Peter and Kirsten Bedford Senior Fellow (adjunct) at the Hoover Institution, is the Laurence A. Tisch Professor of Law, New York University Law School, and a senior lecturer at the University of Chicago.

Epstein researches and writes on a broad range of constitutional, economic, historical, and philosophical subjects. He has taught administrative law, antitrust law, communications law, constitutional law, corporation criminal law, employment discrimination law, environmental law, food and drug law, health law, labor law, Roman law, real estate development and finance, and individual and corporate taxation.

Epstein’s most recent publication is The Classical Liberal Constitution: The Uncertain Quest for Limited Government (2014). His other books include Design for Liberty: Private Property, Public Administration, and the Rule of Law (2011); The Case against the Employee Free Choice Act (Hoover Institution Press, 2009); Supreme Neglect: How to Revive the Constitutional Protection for Private Property (2008); How the Progressives Rewrote the Constitution (2006); Overdose (2006); and Free Markets under Siege: Cartels, Politics, and Social Welfare (Hoover Institution Press, 2005). In addition, he edited the Journal of Legal Studies from 1981 to 1991 and the Journal of Law and Economics from 1991 to 2001.

He received a BA degree in philosophy summa cum laude from Columbia in 1964; a BA degree in law with first-class honors from Oxford University in 1966; and an LLB degree cum laude from the Yale Law School in 1968. Upon graduation, he joined the faculty at the University of Southern California, where he taught until 1972. In 1972, he visited the University of Chicago and became a regular member of the faculty the following year.

In 2005, the College of William & Mary School of Law awarded Epstein the Brigham-Kanner Property Rights Prize, and in 2011, he was a recipient of the Bradley Prize for outstanding achievement.

He has been a senior fellow at the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics since 1984 and was elected a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1985. He has been a Hoover fellow since 2000.

Brian Timpone

Brian Timpone is the founder, Chairman, and CEO of Chicago-based Pipeline Media, a leading provider of data and software tools to media companies, marketers, and digital publishers. He is also co-founder of Metric Media, which publishes 1,400 news sites around the United States.

Brian started his career as a television reporter and later served as press secretary for the Illinois House Minority Leader. In 2021, he co-founded the Voter Reference Foundation and VoteRef.com, dedicated to making state voter registration data available to the public.

Timpone is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism. A Chicago native, he lives in Western Springs, Ill. with his wife, Patricia, and their five children.
