Nebraska Supreme Court Hearing Arguments in Gun Ban On City Property

(Lincoln Journal Star)—The Nebraska Supreme Court is set to hear arguments Thursday morning in a legal challenge brought against the city of Lincoln over the city’s ban on guns in public places.

The Nebraska Firearms Owners Association and four gun owners — three from Lincoln and a fourth from Seward County — sued, contending that Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird’s executive order was preempted by the state’s constitutional carry law.

Texas attorney Jacob Huebert of the Liberty Justice Center, who represents them and others in a lawsuit in Douglas County over a similar ban in Omaha, said the ban has altered their behavior.
