On August 12, the Liberty Justice Center joined the Institute for Free Speech, Southeastern Legal Foundation, Cato Institute, New Civil Liberties Alliance, Second Amendment Foundation, and National Rifle Association of America to file an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in Lackey v. Stinnie. The amicus brief urges the Supreme Court to rule that civil rights plaintiffs who prevail in court can seek attorney fees—even if the government refuses to admit a civil rights plaintiff won the case and attempts to evade paying by changing the law at the heart of the lawsuit and moving to dismiss the case as moot.
